30 Years of Lake Love

When my husband and I bought our house here 30 years ago we had a private joke between us that no one in Algoma knew the lake was here. The boardwalk changed everything. We were thrilled! We were only able to come on weekends back then, often with friends and family. We all loved the beach and soon the boardwalk. 17 years ago we moved here permanently. Our kids are grown and scattered now as are most of the Grands, but they come “home” to Algoma often where they made wonderful memories fishing Lake Michigan and many hours at the beach and walking the boardwalk. This summer we will all gather to scatter my husbands ashes in the lake that we all so love. The boardwalk has been a huge part of our special times together. Thank you to all the volunteers who built it and to the Friends of Crescent Beach for all your work to maintain and promote this treasure. - Rhonna Hemm
