Soar on the Shore Kite Festival is an excellent way to give back to the Algoma community and Crescent Beach!
Saturday August 17, 2024 (Rain Date Sunday August 18) Soar on the Shore is a premiere beach and kite festival taking place at Crescent Beach, Algoma. Event runs from 11-4pm.
Shifts available:
Set Up (8am to 11am)
Event (11-4pm)
Take Down (3:30-5pm).
Duties include but not limited to: Set Up and Take Down Volunteers - setting up activities areas, pop up tents, tables, loading/unloading boxes and bins, assisting with traffic control. Event Volunteers: Assisting attendees at booth, relieving activity coordinators, checking garbages and areas for cleanliness, photography. Opportunities available to develop and lead children's crafts or nature related activities. Come join our team to present one of the best free family activities in Algoma!

Cougars Band is a 6-piece Rock and Roll group whose specialty is belty, high-energy songs, and lots of harmonies.
You’ll hear everything from Journey to Lady GaGa with some cross-over country mixed in along with 80s hits and party songs to keep the dance floor full.

In a venue like no other, this free concert series takes place outdoors at Heritage Park in Algoma, WI overlooking Lake Michigan and the Algoma City Marina.

Have fun and support Great Lakes health this month with Friends of Crescent Beach and the Algoma Public Library when you play Beach Clean Bingo! Pick up your Bingo sheet and a paper bag at the circulation desk at the library. Collect trash and fill out your bingo card. Return your findings to the library to be entered for a prize! This program runs May 6- 31st.
World Migratory Bird Day Celebration hosted by the Bird City Algoma Committee. The celebration will be held at the Algoma High School, 1715 Division Street, Algoma on Saturday, April 27 starting at 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Friends of Crescent Beach will be in the vendor area. Come talk to us about volunteering and our mission!

Join the Friends of Crescent Beach Crescent Crew! The Crescent Crew is back for a second year to continue its work to remove invasive plants and plant appropriate and attractive native plants on the beach. Learn all about it at the Crescent Crew Meet and Greet on Tuesday, May 24, 4:30-6:00 PM at the Algoma Visitor Center, 1226 Lake St. Alternating Tuesday mornings/evenings work sessions. Participation is flexible - come as your schedule allows. Can't make it to the Meet and Greet? Information will also be available at the volunteer planting on May 21, at 9:30 a.m. (meet in front of the Visitor Center). We will be helping sell wine and beer as a fundraiser for FOCB. 50% of all profits and tips from the event will assist FOCB in their mission for Crescent Beach.
Big Mouth has been a a crowd-pleaser for over 25 years playing R & B, Horn Band Favorites, Funk and Big Band Music. Big Mouth was originally formed by Jay Whitney in 1980 in and around Flint, Michigan. A new Big Mouth was formed in Door County in 1990, with the Power Tool Horns added in the mid 90’s.

Friends of Crescent Beach is seeking volunteers to help restore the native habitat on the south end of Crescent Beach and surrounding areas. No prior gardening experience or tools required!
You will:
Help remove invasive plants
Plant and nurture native plants
Learn value of native plants in habitat and assist educating others
Meet other like-minded individuals
Earn a Crescent Crew tee!
Members of the Crew will gather weekly throughout the summer (Tuesday mornings 9:00 - 10:30 a.m. alternating with Tuesday evenings 5:00 - 6:30 p.m.).
First work session May 25 at 9:00 a.m. Participate as often as your summer schedule allows. Orientation session recommended (Zoom option available), but not mandatory - just join us at the beach at one of our work sessions.

Volunteer to plant native flowering plant plugs on Crescent Beach to prevent erosion, create wildlife habitat and discourage the growth of invasive plants.
Learn about the importance of our beach restoration efforts.
Meet outside the Algoma Visitor Center, 1226 Lake St. All supplies provided, however volunteers are encouraged to bring their own favorite gardening gloves and trowels.
Refreshments and a free native plant or seed packet for volunteers compliments of the Bird City Algoma Committee.
Coordinated by the Friends of Crescent Beach. Funding provided by grants secured by Lakeshore Natural Resource Partnership.
